Obituary of Fred A. Palumbo

Fred A. Palumbo, age 77, of Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 28, 1948, in Troia, Province of Foggia, Italy, he was a son of the late Alfonso and Filomena Cibelli Palumbo.

Along with his family, they immigrated to the United States in June of 1958, settling in Bridgeport. Fred graduated from Warren Harding High School and later went on to become a machinist. He worked for Prestige Tool for many years until his retirement in 2018.

Fred had a love for animals, especially his cat Meiche, who he took care of for the past 10 years. He was also an avid car collector, always had the newest tech, and had a love for music; having even played guitar during his early 20s with his band, "The Silver Tones". Most of all, Fred had a passion for filmmaking. His love of being behind the camera helped him to capture countless memories over the years. Fred could always be counted on to bring a new tape to a holiday, featuring so many of his family members, both past and present.

Survivors include his son, Daniel Palumbo, a sister, Cristina Sementilli and her husband Mario, a brother, Armando Palumbo and his wife Rose, sister-in-law, Assunta Palumbo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Cecilia Salvati Palumbo

He was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Palumbo and Secondino Palumbo, a sister-in-law, Vincenza Palumbo, nephews, Roberto Palumbo, David Palumbo, Anthony Tucci and Mario Pirulli, and niece, Lily Pirulli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am – 10:30 am in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1640, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Society), 504 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.
