I first met Joe almost 50 years ago when he was on the Newtown PD with my brother, Paul. Joe was one of the finest human beings I've ever known though he often tried to push one's "buttons" to see the reaction.... actually a very endearing quality. His sense of humor, and comedic timing, were excellent and greatly appreciated by his friends. Even those of us outside the police community could see that he was also an outstanding officer, and later Lieutenant, able to deal with the downside of the job, yet maintain his humanity and kindness. Because of COVID I haven't seen Joe, or our social group, in quite a while yet, I have often thought of them. I didn't find out about his passing until 2 weeks later, but rest assured, that my prayers and thought are with him and with Susan. Goodbye, my friend. Say Hi to Paul.

Bridgeport Police lost one of its finest legends. To Sue. I can not begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your loss of Joe. Greatest time of my life was the MC runs. The shooting, the training. Joe kept many, many police officers alive to this day with his excellent trining.
Joe loved his family and his backyard garden area. Spoke of all many times. I’ll miss many things. I’ll never ever forget the lessons taught. There are no words for what I’ll miss most. MAKE GODS PRECINCT GREAT AGAIN. Save us, who are worthy, a seat up there Joe. R.I.P. buddy. To the entire family I’m again so sorry for your loss. Mentors like Joe come once in a 100yrs. Fact!

Joe was a training officer when I came on the job. He was a good role model for all, and always a true gentleman. He had respect for the job, the uniform, and for the people in it. He spoke lovingly about his family and was an exemplary supervisor. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Joe, and may God welcome you to Heaven. My sincere condolences to his family.
